Heungkuk Financial Group

Mobile App Renewal

2020.10~2021.9

During the pandemic, South Korea significantly invested in IT to support the non-Contact sale of financial products. Heungkuk Financial Group identified the need for data-driven digital user experience management to keep up with changes in the financial industry. They aimed to strengthen Heungkuk Financial Group's brand identity by delivering consistent user experiences across mobile platforms. As part of this initiative, I developed a standardized UI-UX guide and renewed the mobile applications for Heungkuk Life Insurance and Heungkuk Fire Insurance as well. This effort enhanced user accessibility and streamlined digital services, reinforcing their competitive edge in the evolving financial landscape.

Brand Consistency

As a Project Manager, I considered the diverse business characteristics of Heungkuk Financial Group’s subsidiaries and derived the concepts of "Connection" and "Scalability" using a Card UI design approach. This allowed me to create a unified Brand Identity by combining various components effectively.

  1. Common UI Elements: Core design features such as Color, Font, Logo, and Layout were standardized and consistently applied across Heungkuk Life Insurance and Fire Insurance mobile platforms.

  2. Adaptive Components: Input elements, icons, and navigation structures were designed flexibly, allowing variation to suit specific service needs while maintaining overall design consistency.

This approach effectively balanced the individuality of each subsidiary's business needs with a cohesive brand presence, providing an enhanced user experience.

Designing for
Later Life

Through user analysis of Heungkuk Financial Group, I identified that the primary users were aged 50 and above. Based on this insight, I designed the UI/UX to cater specifically to the needs of this key user group.

1. Enhanced Convenience for Older Adults

  • Large Text UI: Provide larger font options on major pages to improve readability.

  • Readability Factors:

    • Color Contrast: Ensure sufficient contrast between text and background.

    • Font Size: Use appropriately large font sizes to reduce strain on the eyes.

2. Accessibility Considerations

  • Button Size: Design larger, easy-to-tap buttons for comfortable interaction.

  • Intuitive Menu Labels: Use clear, straightforward labels to help users quickly understand the menu structure.

3. Data-Driven Service Prioritization

  • Identify Top Services: Conduct user research to determine the six most frequently used services by older adults.

  • Direct Button Placement: Feature dedicated quick-access buttons for these top services on the main screen to streamline navigation.

Design Motiff

Drawing on the edgy forms and signature colors of the CI logo, the icon design boldly captures and communicates Heungkuk’s brand identity.
